The Waldorf Astoria Washington D.C. (Former Trump Hotel) At The Old Post Office Is Now Open
As it was previously announced The Old Post Office building, now a luxury hotel in Washington DC, just changed its flag from Trump Hotels to the Waldorf Astoria brand of the Hilton portfolio.
Guests can now earn and redeem Hilton Honors points at this property and the prices are (as were to be expected) exasperating.
You can access the website of the Waldorf Astoria here.

The property was closed for a couple of days in May before reopening as Waldorf Astoria which was a little strange rather than just changing flags overnight as it’s usually the case.
Here you can see the pricing for a night on the coming weekend:
It was to be expected that the price tag for this hotel is rather high and even during its days as the Trump Hotel it was not a cheap place to stay, after all, building the Old Post Office out to be a luxury hotel had cost a fortune. The Trump Hotel then first opened in 2016, timely for President Trump’s tenure at the White House although this was obviously conceptualized many years prior to him even running for the presidency.
The Trump Organization had sold on the lease for the property for $375 million while the U.S. government owns the land. The new owner of the property is CGI Merchant Group, LLC and the firm decided that the Waldorf brand would be the most suitable for this hotel. I tend to agree, having stayed there in the past. It’s a fabulous property!
Conclusion
Hilton Honors members and all other guests can now stay at the former Old Post Office and enjoy the hotel under the Waldorf Astoria Brand. They won’t be disappointed as it’s one of the best hotels in town especially if one enjoys historic buildings.
The price is something to consider though as it regularly goes for $1000++ a night or 110,000 points for nights which is a tough pill to swallow. The budget for that DC trip better be pretty high.
