Tennessee Vols guard announces transfer destination

Tennessee Vols guard Victor Bailey Jr entered the transfer portal over the weekend and has already found a new home.

Bailey announced on Monday that he’s transferring to George Mason.

Bailey will play for former Vols assistant coach Kim English at George Mason.

English took over as the Patriots head coach after the 2020-21 season.

Bailey has one year of eligibility remaining (his extra COVID-19 season that was provided by the NCAA).

The Texas native spent the first two years of his career as a member of the Oregon Ducks basketball team. He transferred to Tennessee and had to sit out the 2019-2020 season.

In 2020-21, Bailey was a key player for the Vols, averaging 10.9 points per game and 24.8 minutes per game.

This past season, however, Bailey saw his playing time drastically reduced. He averaged just under 10 minutes per game and a career-low 2.6 points per game. With Kennedy Chandler, Zakai Zeigler, Josiah-Jordan James, and Santiago Vescovi holding down the guard positions, there wasn’t a big need for Bailey this season.
