Cyprus to Ease Travel Restrictions From April 18

Citizens from other countries will no longer be subject to travel restrictions when planning to enter Cyprus after the latter’s government announced that it would abolish such measures on April 18.

In addition, according to authorities in Cyprus, from April 11, the country will also lift some other restrictions imposed due to the Coronavirus, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

Such new changes have been introduced as part of the country’s efforts to ease the travel process and gradually get back to normal life.

According to the country’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, the categorization of other countries, taking into account their epidemiological situation, will also be abolished, while travellers will no longer be required to hold a CyprusFlightPass.

Authorities in Cyprus continue to categorise other countries into specific groups such as green, red, and grey categories, taking into account the epidemiological situation in them.

Recently, authorities in Cyprus announced that they eased the entry rules for arrivals from Armenia and Columbia after both countries were added to the green list, which consists of countries considered epidemiologically safe in terms of COVID-19 infection. However, the categorization of countries will soon be removed.

Starting from April 18, all persons who have completed their immunisation process against the virus will be permitted to enter the country without being obliged to undergo the COVID-19 testing process at first. At the same time, unvaccinated travellers will only be required to present a negative result of the COVID-19 rapid antigen test, not older than 24 hours, or PCR test result, not older than 72 hours.

Authorities in Cyrus have also clarified that children under the age of 12 will be exempted from all Coronavirus checks.

The Health Minister, Michalis Hadipantelas, has stressed that starting from April 11, people will also be exempted from the requirement to wear a face mask outdoors. At the same time, the SafePass will only be needed for health workers as well as people entering health care units, homes for the elderly, and medical centres.

Authorities in Cyprus have announced that no SafePass will be required for persons planning to enter shopping malls, museums, public service premises, or open-air markets and festivals. However, it will be needed for people planning to enter restaurants.

According to the figures provided by the World Health Organisation (WHO), Cyprus has registered a total of 449,715 cases of COVID-19 infection since the start of the pandemic. In contrast, a total of 950 people have died during the same period.
